Upcoming Events & News
Calling artists for participation in the Ballard Art Walk at the tasting room! – We are building out our calendar for the 2011 2nd Saturday Ballard Art Walk. We have some open spots – so if you, or someone you know, would be interested in doing a show at the tasting room – please contact us. We have really enjoyed participating in the local art walk – and have found our artists have too!
The winery is a great place for a private event. We have hosted several birthday parties, book clubs, team events, holiday parties, and small gatherings with friends. If you are interested in learning more details, please contact 206.465.9406 or email info@domanicocellars.com.
Awards & Recognition
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate released its 2010 Washington wine report and our wines scored exceptionally well.
2007 Domanico Cellars Le Monstre Cabernet Sauvignon 91 points – The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Le Monstre is a worthy successor to the outstanding 2006. The 2007 is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up an alluring bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, herbs, and black currant. Dense, rich, and layered on the palate, this impeccably balanced, structured offering will benefit from another 2-3 years of bottle age to fully unwind. Drink it from 2013 to 2022, probably longer. 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
All 6 wines we submitted for the competition (largest wine competition in the US) received medals. Both our ’06 and soon to be released ’07 wines. We continue to be honored by this type of recognition and were taught long ago – you must celebrate successes! A big thanks to all of those who dedicated a lot of time and energy to helping us with those vintages.
2010 Dallas Morning News Wine Competition
Our 2007 Le Flirt was awarded a silver medal at the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition!
2010 Seattle Wine Awards
Our 2010 Mesa Rojo was awarded a silver medal at the 2010 Seattle Wine Awards! What an honor, now all of our 2007 Red’s have received Silver Medals!
Wine Advocate #185 – The 2006 Le Monstre is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec which spent 23 months in 60% new French oak. It is a bit more serious than Le Flirt with its enticing bouquet of pain grille, cinnamon, clove, violets, black cherry, and black currant. This leads to a racy, savory wine with a lively palate-feel, complex flavors, and a lengthy finish. It will evolve for 1-2 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2011 to 2018. 90 points - Jay Miller
